Οργανώσεις και Ευρωβουλευτές καλούν τις εταιρίες να αποσύρουν την προσφορά τους για την εξαγορά της ΕΥΑΘ

«Αν και στην Ελλάδα δεν υπάρχει προηγούμενο, η διεθνής εμπειρία έχει δείξει ότι η ιδιωτικοποίηση του νερού συνήθως εκτόξευσε τις τιμές και σε πολλές περιπτώσεις υποβάθμισε την ποιότητα του νερού. Αν και η τάση στην Ευρώπη είναι πλέον η επανακρατικοποίηση των συστημάτων ύδρευσης, μας εξαναγκάζουν να κάνουμε το αντίθετο» λέει η Μαρία Κανελλοπούλου, μέλος της Πρωτοβουλίας Πολιτών SaveGreekWater. “HEYΑΘ είναι η πρώτη περίπτωση ιδιωτικοποίησης νερού στην Ελλάδα, που πρέπει να σταματήσουμε για να εξασφαλίσουμε ότι η τάση δε θα εξαπλωθεί στην υπόλοιπη Ελλάδα» πρόσθεσε.
«Οι εταιρίες που ενεπλάκησαν στην ιδιωτικοποίηση του νερού συχνά αμαύρωσαν τη φήμη τους, το ρίσκο τους αυξήθηκε και τα κέρδη τους ήταν περιορισμένα. Οι εταιρίες που στοχεύουν να αγοράσουν την ΕΥΑΘ, βασίζουν το εταιρικό τους μοντέλο στον καιροσκοπισμό και θα πρέπει να το λάβουν αυτό σαν προειδοποίηση για τις δυσκολίες που έπονται» είπε ο Γιώργος Αρχοντόπουλος, από το σύλλογο εργαζομένων στην ΕΥΑΘ.
«Την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα η εταιρία EldoradoGold ανακοίνωσε την αναστολή της παραγωγής της στο χρυσωρυχείο της Χαλκιδικής. Αυτό είναι ένα ακόμη παράδειγμα εταιρίας η οποία δεν είναι επιθυμητή στην Ελλάδα και την οποία οι πολίτες είναι έτοιμοι να πολεμήσουν για να σταματήσουν την εκμετάλλευση ενός από τους κοινούς τους πόρους. Οι κάτοικοι έχουν καταφέρει να καθυστερήσουν τις εξορυκτικές δραστηριότητες με συνεχή και δυναμική αντίσταση. Είναι η ίδια κατάσταση που διαμορφώνεται για την προστασία του δημόσιου νερού και της ΕΥΑΘ στη Θεσσαλονίκη» είπε η GabriellaZanzanaini, διευθύντρια ευρωπαϊκών υποθέσεων της Food & WaterEurope.
«50 ευρωβουλευτές, από τους Συντηρητικούς, το Λαϊκό Κόμμα, τους Φιλελεύθερους, τους Πράσινους , τους Σοσιαλιστές και την Αριστερά, προερχόμενοι από 18 χώρες, συνυπέγραψαν την επιστολή. Η μαζική αυτή συμμετοχή είναι χαρακτηριστική της διεθνούς και τοπικής αντίδρασης στην πώληση του νερού που θα ζημιώσει τις εταιρίες που θα συμμετάσχουν στην ιδιωτικοποίηση. Οι εταιρίες θα πρέπει να επιδιώκουν την κερδοφορία τους μέσα από το εμπόριο ιδιωτικών αγαθών, όχι ελέγχοντας την αγορά δημοσίων αγαθών. Το Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο στέλνει σαφή προειδοποίηση στην ελληνική κυβέρνηση, ότι η ιδιωτικοποίηση του νερού ούτε είναι ευπρόσδεκτη, ούτε θα βοηθήσει την Ελλάδα να βγει από την κρίση» είπε ο Ανεξάρτητος Ευρωβουλευτής Κρίτων Αρσένης, που είχε αναλάβει τη προώθηση της πρωτοβουλίας στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο.
Οι πολίτες διεκδικούν να παραμείνει η επικερδής δημόσια επιχείρηση στην ιδιοκτησία του δημοσίου, όπου η πραγματική συμμετοχή πολιτών και εργαζομένων στη διαχείριση του νερού είναι εφικτή. Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη το τρέχον ευρωπαϊκό πλαίσιο, όπου πάνω από 1 600 000 πολίτες έχουν υπογράψει την Ευρωπαϊκή Πρωτοβουλία Πολιτών για την προστασία του δικαιώματος στο νερό και την πρόσφατη απόσυρση από την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή των υπηρεσιών ύδατος από την αμφιλεγόμενη οδηγία για τις Συμβάσεις Παραχώρησης, οι υποψήφιες εταιρείες πηγαίνουν πραγματικά ενάντια στο ρεύμα, εμμένοντας στην προσφορά τους για την ΕΥΑΘ.
